The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Andrew Johnson with the 2021 Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the Central Region of the ACP. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.

“I am extremely honored to accept this award because I believe it incentivizes in others the multi-modal effort to advance our profession that it has recognized in me,” said Dr. Johnson. “To know that the leadership of our specialty values the efforts of private practitioners like me to include academics, technology development, and community involvement is extremely motivating. My goal now is to pass the inspiration that this acknowledgement has given me on to the next worthy recipient and keep the passion for our important work, in all its forms, alive and thriving for the next generation.”

Dr. Johnson completed his general dental and prosthodontic training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and now practices in northwest Arkansas. Along with his specialty certificate, Dr. Johnson earned a master’s degree in dental science researching CAD/CAM restorative techniques and emerging digital dental materials. He maintains certifications by both the American Board of Prosthodontics and the National Board for Dental Laboratory Technology, and serves as adjunct faculty with the UTHSC Advanced Prosthodontics Program. He is both a Diplomate and a Fellow of the ACP and is an active member in other dental organizations.
