2021 Private Practice Prosthodontist Award Eastern Region: Dr. Hunter Dawson
The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Hunter Dawson with the 2021 Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the Eastern Region of the ACP. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.
“Receiving this award means that esteemed colleagues across the profession observe and recognize the commitment and continual pursuit of excellence that many of us chase in our career, and for this recognition I am honored and would like to express a tremendous amount of gratitude to those colleagues.” Dr. Dawson said, “Being a recipient of this award will continue to push me in my career and to strive for excellence in patient care.”
Dr. Dawson completed his advanced education program in prosthodontics at the University of Louisville. During residency, his interest focused on implant abutment materials, design, and digital workflows. He focused his patient care on diagnosis and treatment planning of the terminal dentition using the latest digital technology workflows.
He has published multiple articles in the areas of novel restorative materials using digital workflows utilizing guided implant surgery. Currently, he is the Director of Implants and Innovation at Carolinas Centers for Oral, Facial, Cosmetic, and Dental Implant Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also the current President of the North Carolina ACP section.
