2022 ACP Rockies/Plains Region Private Practice Prosthodontist Award
The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Michael Lynn Gurney with the Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the Rockies/Plains Region of the ACP at the 2022 Annual Awards & President’s Dinner held at the 52nd Annual Session of the ACP on Nov. 4 in Austin, TX. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.
“To be completely honest, at first learning that I had been nominated and then to have received the award was a complete shock and surprise.” Dr. Gurney said, “I love what I do, and I strive to be the best that I possibly can every day for my patients and my team. Sometimes, it feels like nobody truly recognizes all the time, energy, and dedication I pour into what I do. Receiving the award made me feel so good.”
Dr. Michael Lynn Gurney graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2005 where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He attended Creighton University School of Dentistry, earning his DDS in 2009. Fueled by his passion for dental implants and comprehensive dental therapy, he went on to pursue a 3-year advanced prosthodontic residency program at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and in 2012 was awarded a specialty certificate in prosthodontics as well as his Master of Science for his research in clinical implant dentistry. He owns and maintains a private practice named Boise Prosthodontics.
