2024 International Region Private Practice Prosthodontist Award

The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Izchak Barzilay with the Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the International Region of the ACP at the 2024 Annual Awards & President’s Dinner held at the 54th Annual Session of the ACP on Nov. 8 in Marco Island, FL. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.

"Receiving the Private Practice Award from the ACP is an incredible honor, and I am truly grateful for this recognition." Dr. Barzilay said, "As a prosthodontist, I see myself as an intraoral architect, collaborating with various dental specialties to ensure our patients achieve the best possible outcomes. This award underscores our shared commitment to not only advancing the specialty of prosthodontics but also to giving back to our communities in meaningful ways. I am thankful for the amazing team I have had the pleasure to work with and for the opportunity to mentor many individuals on their own journeys. Thank you to the ACP and to everyone who shares in the vision of specialists working together for the greater good. Your support means the world to me."

Dr. Izchak Barzilay received his DDS from the University of Toronto in 1983, a certificate in prosthodontics from the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY in 1986, and a MS from the University of Rochester in 1991. He is currently the CEO and founder of the Build Your Smile Dental Foundation, Toronto, ON, head of the division of prosthodontics and restorative dentistry at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto, adjunct assistant professor of dentistry for the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Rochester, Rochester NY, a professor at George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto, associate in dentistry at the University of Toronto, Toronto, and has served in leadership positions in numerous esteemed dental organizations.

He has published on various topics including immediate implants, bonding plastics to various metals and other material and implant related topics. Dr. Barzilay holds fellowships or diplomate status for several dental organizations.
