2024 Rockies/Plaines Region Private Practice Prosthodontist Award

The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Kellie Schaub with the Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the Rockies/Plaines Region of the ACP at the 2024 Annual Awards & President’s Dinner held at the 54th Annual Session of the ACP on Nov. 8 in Marco Island, FL. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.

"This award has become a defining moment in my career." Dr. Ortegon said, "It is a nice reward that uplifts the spirit and makes you want to work even harder to promote and support the specialty."

Dr. Sergio Ortegon is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a maxillofacial prosthodontist that graduated from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia in 1998. He practiced for several years as a general dentist before completing a year of advanced education in general dentistry and 3 years of graduate prosthodontics and an MDSat the University of Connecticut Health Science Center. In addition, he did a 1-year fellowship in maxillofacial prosthetics at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He is currently an adjunct faculty at the University of Texas School of Dentistry-Houston and a clinical consultant for the Texas Children’s Hospital Deptartment of Plastic Surgery. At present, he is the president of the Houston Chapter of the ACPDr. Ortegon has published in peer-reviewed specialty journals and lectures locally and internationally. He has a private practice limited to his specialty and subspecialty in Houston.
