ACP Massachusetts Section Recap

On Friday, Oct. 7, the American College of Prosthodontists Massachusetts Section hosted the second Esthetic Symposium, which focused on practice-relevant techniques and technology applications to manage cosmetic dental cases. The event, held at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, MA, was open to prosthodontists and other specialists, general dentists, dental technicians, residents, and dental students. Approximately 120 people were in attendance.

This event was created in 2018 as a biannual event with the vision of bringing together Massachusetts dental professionals interested in learning more about the management of esthetics cases from a multidisciplinary approach. During the symposium, attendees interacted with speakers, sponsors, and board members during break sessions.

ACP Massachusetts Section President Dr. Gabriela Lagreca opened the session by thanking the sponsors, speakers, and board members for their contributions and sharing news and updates from the Massachusetts Section Board of Directors. The keynote speaker was Dr. Edward McLaren, speaking about various science-related research on dental ceramics from the clinician and dental technician perspective and strategies to address everyday-practice problems with restorative materials in the esthetic zone. Other topics presented included implants on the esthetic zone, management of soft and hard tissue issues, laser in dentistry, Botox, and fillers to aid restorative results. Participants were presented with the information at the beginning, and Q&A sessions were hosted at the end of the sessions. Six continuing education credits were provided.

The third Esthetic Symposium will be held in Sept. 2024. You can follow the ACP Massachusetts Section on Instagram at @acpmasection for updates.
