ADA Code Maintenance Committee Meeting
On March 14, 2019, the ADA Code Maintenance Committee met in Chicago. The purpose of the meeting was to review proposed changes to the 2020 CDT book.
In March 2018, the ACP was asked to further investigate the code of D6066. Currently, the code states implant supported porcelain fused to metal crown (titanium, titanium alloy, high noble metal). It did not include the noble category. There was a request to add noble metal or create a new code for noble metal. The ADA Code Maintenance Committee charged the ACP to investigate further the fixed prosthetic codes for consistency. The inconsistency was that, for single unit crowns or retainer crowns, there was a code for each type of material; whereas the codes for the abutment/implant supported crowns put all the different types of materials into just one code. Hence, a detailed review of the codes was needed for consistency.
As a result of this review, 30 codes were proposed to establish consistency for a fixed prosthesis. All proposed changes were accepted. The College was represented by Dr. Betsy K. Davis.
All proposed changes for CDT codes for CDT 2021 are due on Nov. 1, 2019. Please contact Dr. Davis if you have any concerns or changes to suggest.
