The Final Touch
6:45 - 7:15 P.M. CST
Edward A. McLaren, DDS
University of California, Los Angeles

Following this session, the attendee should be able to:

  • Review a detailed 10-step process of finalizing indirect restorations, both porcelain and monolithic cubic zirconia.
  • Describe how to appropriately surface finish ceramic restorations.
  • Discuss how to create ceramic restorations that are natural and esthetic.

This presentation will cover the final touches of contour, texture, surface colorants, and polish that can take an average looking restoration and create an exceptionally esthetic result. These steps are critical to the success of dental restorations, whether they are composite or porcelain, especially as monolithic lithium disilicate or translucent zirconia are becoming the norm. The lecture will also cover the esthetics of the individual tooth, the individual form, and color characteristics of teeth. A detailed 10-step process of finalizing indirect restorations will be a main focus of the presentation.
