The Monolithic Conversion Prosthesis for Guided or Navigated Implant Placement
7:25 - 8:05 P.M. CST
Stephen F. Balshi, MBE, BBE
Fort Washington, PA

Following this session, the attendee should be able to:

  • Consolidate the relevant patient intake information at the initial patient evaluation appointment.
  • Discuss the workflow for this simplified protocol for full arch implant reconstruction.
  • Identify the benefits of using a monolithic conversion denture for prosthetically-driven treatment planning.

Full arch reconstruction with dental implants has evolved over the years from the conventional two-stage protocol and transitioning to single-stage or immediate loading protocols. In more recent history, the inclusion of preoperative virtual implant planning and computer-assisted guided surgery has played a role in advancing this type of treatment for more accuracy and efficiency. This presentation will cover a workflow for full arch reconstruction that uses a monolithic conversion denture that is uniquely prepared based on a digital denture design and virtual implant planning. This workflow can result in either surgery that is performed by freehand implant placement following the virtual implant planning, surgical guidance with dynamic navigation, or surgical guidance using the conversion denture itself as a static guide. This workflow is intended to simplify and reduce treatment time and cost compared to the various "stackable" systems currently available for guided full arch prosthetics.
