Virtual Treatment Planning - New Software Features & Production Technologies Approach the Market
8:10 - 8:40 P.M. CST
Michael Bergler, CDT, MDT
University of Pennsylvania
Following this session, the attendee should be able to:
- Describe the importance of handling the digital workflow.
- Discuss the new software features for an easier and faster 3D design process.
- Identify the limits and possibilities of new production technologies like 3D ceramic printing.
The latest developments in digital dentistry allow for the creation of virtual patients on screen. With advanced scanning technologies, a variety of data sets can be generated and combined for 3D case evaluation, implant planning, and the simulation of restorative and surgical treatment protocols. In order to get faster results, new software features have been simplified and offer a number of advanced tools to alter a variety of captured data sets. Furthermore, new production technologies like 3D ceramic printing approach the market and seem to be an alternative to the well-established milling technology. This lecture will focus on how new software features can support and simplify the digital workflow and describe the current status of 3D ceramic printing and its effect on digital dentistry.
