Assessing Concepts of Occlusion

Following this session, the attendee should be able to:

• Identify the scientific support we have for the types of lateral guidance used with natural dentitions.
• Assess the level of support for the occlusal schemes commonly used with complete dentures.
• Evaluate the scientific credibility of the occlusal concepts used with implant prostheses.

This presentation will examine the evidence related to the type of lateral guidance used with natural dentitions, the types of occlusal schemes used with complete dentures, and the occlusal concepts used with implant prostheses to determine if there is scientific support for the procedures we have been using.

Biography: Dr. Goodacre is a Diplomate and past president of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and past president of the American College of Prosthodontists. He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor and teaches in the Advanced Education Program in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University and maintains a private practice devoted to prosthodontics and implant dentistry.
