Mohammed H. Elnagar, DDS, MSc, PhD
University of Illinois at Chicago
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving technology that influences our daily life, deeply impacting the health care field. The progressive development of AI in dentistry may benefit the clinician in diagnosis, prediction of treatment outcome, facilitation of the digital workflow, and treatment monitoring. However, there are many challenges to developing a reliable AI algorithm. In this lecture, we will explain the basic concepts of AI and its current application in dentistry, current limitations, and future opportunities.
At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Define Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning.
- Understand how to apply AI in daily dental practice.
- Explain the challenges, risks, and benefits of implementing AI in health care.
