Denture Autopsy: An Analysis of Failed Dentures
Valerie E. McMillan, DDS, MS
Beavercreek, Ohio
Friday, Nov. 4
8:00 – 8:45 a.m. CT
This presentation will feature several cases of removable prosthodontics failures, with resolution and without. Often failures are blamed on the patient, the surgeon, the laboratory, but sometimes the blame belongs to the "operator." Dr. McMillan assembled as much detailed information as possible about failed cases to analyze all possible factors to the failure. There will be an honest retrospective discussion about the events in each case so that others can learn from the failures.
At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Better predict treatments that are likely to fail.
- Discuss failures with colleagues to enhance future treatment.
- Request specific images from the dental laboratory for assessing digital denture setups.
