The 3D sculpting application Zbrush is used in the movie industry for character creation and in prosthodontics for complex restorations and esthetic dentistry. Dan Katcher, creator of the dragons in the HBO series Game of Thrones, will demonstrate the process of using 3D sculpting software in the television, movie, and entertainment industry. Attendees will witness the power and possibilities of using Zbrush in dental restorative and cosmetic procedures to achieve results never before possible.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:

• Identify how open 3D sculpting is used in the television, movie, and entertainment industry.
• Compare how the same software is used in complex prosthodontic treatments.
• Predict how prosthodontists can benefit from the possibilities of this type of software in dentistry.

Biography: Dan Katcher is most well known as the Designer and Lead Artist behind the dragons for, Game of Thrones. He began his career as a toy sculptor in NYC over 30 years ago before moving to California to pursue work in film and television. Currently he is the modeling supervisor AT AMGI Studios in Burbank California. He happily resides in Culver City with his wife and nine-year-old son.

Biography: Dr. Paul Zhivago is a board-certified prosthodontist. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry, where he also completed his education as a prosthodontist. He trained at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine as a surgical and implant fellow. He is the course director of digital dentistry for the postgraduate prosthodontic department at NYU. He is the owner of DOWNTOWNDENTAL located in Westfield, NJ.
