This workshop will address how research and publication fit into attaining promotion and/or tenure as well as general recommendations about the tenure and promotion process.

Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Prosthodontics, Dr. Sharon C. Siegel will moderate the workshop. Dr. Fei Liu and Dr. Konstantinos Chochlidakis, will share their experiences and recommendations for building a research focus and turning their research results into published manuscripts.

There will be a panel discussion at the end of the presentations for the audience to ask questions and to discuss how to manage roadblocks they may face in the publication and promotion/tenure process.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:

Recognize the importance of research and publications in the promotion and tenure process.
Express how working with a mentor or seasoned authors can benefit you in research, publication, and the promotion and tenure process.
Utilize the recommendations from the experiences of seasoned authors to assist you in the promotion and tenure process.

Biography: Dr. Fei Liu is an Associate Professor, and Interim Chair in the Department of Biologic and Materials Sciences & Prosthodontics, and Interim Program Director of Graduate Prosthodontics at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Liu serves as reviewer for a number of scientific journals, including the Journal of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Konstantinos Chochlidakis is an Associate Professor and the Program Director of the Prosthodontics Postgraduate Training Program at Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Chochlidakis has authored more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
