Digital Design of the Occlusal Anatomy of Crowns
Now online in the Journal of Prosthodontics, a clinical report from Adolfo Di Fiore, Carlo Monaco, Giulia Brunello, Stefano Granata, Edoardo Stellini, and Burak Yilmaz comparing the static and dynamic contacts of monolithic zirconia crowns designed with correlation and library techniques.
The traditional design of the occlusal morphology is based on standard libraries and often leads to time-consuming clinical adjustments. The correlation technique offers numerous advantages, such as cost-effective production and an increase in quality and reproducibility.
In this study, the correlation technique was used to transfer the information and occlusal anatomy from the interim crown to the definitive crown; the library technique was based on a standard library of CAD software.
The correlation technique was an affordable and effective procedure to transfer occlusal information from interim crowns to the monolithic zirconia crowns.
