Congratulations to ACP Fellow and Region 6 Director Maj. Ryan Sheridan on being a 2022 Spark Tank finalist. This annual competition is put on by the Air Force to spur innovation and creativity, with finalists presenting to senior leaders in the Air and Space Forces on “how their innovations can save money, improve the lives of Airmen or Guardians, and transform the department.” According to the Air Force only the top 3% of ideas were selected as finalists.

Dr. Sheridan’s research focuses on improving ill-fitting oxygen masks for Air Force pilots, an issue that can result in hypoxia. His proposal includes using 3D facial scans, customized silicone inserts, and 3D printing to create oxygen masks that will allow pilots to comfortably breathe while they are in the air.

All six finalist teams, including Dr. Sheridan, will be presenting live on Friday, Mar. 4 to a panel of judges at the Air Force Association’s Warfare Symposium. You can learn more about the competition, Dr. Sheridan’s research, and vote for your favorite online!
