“Esthetic Considerations for Implant Restorations”

Dr. Loana Tovar Suinaga

Dr. Loana M. Tovar Suinaga is currently Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Health and Rehabilitation, Predoctoral Program Director in prosthodontics, Courses Director of Implants for dental students and Advanced Implant course for the graduated program at the University of Louisville. She obtained her dental degree in the Universidad Central de Venezuela, after she moved to New York City where she completed 2 years of training in Advanced Education in Implant Dentistry at the New York University and a Master in Science in Prosthodontics at Columbia University.

She is Board Certified Prosthodontist of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP). Diplomate and Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Dr. Tovar Suinaga has published articles in
implant dentistry and implant restorations and has participated as lecturer in several implant symposia.

Course Description:

This course will enable general practitioner and specialists to integrate basic implantology concepts into your teaching and private practice. Merging basic concepts from biology, surgery and prosthetics to provide predictable esthetics outcome for the implant restorations. The course emphasizes on fixed implant supported restorations (single crowns and small span bridges) in the esthetic area. The course includes different treatment stages that include: treatment plan, prosthesis design, impression techniques, provisional and final restorations, recall and maintenance.

Course Objectives:

- Classify prosthetics patients and case selection.
- Assess the appropriateness for implant in the partially edentulous patient.
- Value diagnostic information in implant cases radiograph, cast and clinical information required for treatment planning.
- Learn the importance of prosthetic treatment planning in the esthetic area.
- Application of surgical and biological principles for implant restorations outcome.
- Learn the importance of soft tissue manage in the outcome of esthetic implant supported restorations
- Understand impression technique, abutment selection, provisionalization, and final restorations of implants.
- Understand restorations design and materials for implant supported fixed prosthesis.
- Learn the importance of recall and maintenance protocol for patients with implant restorations.
