JADA Cover Story on Prosthodontics
A recent issue of the Journal of the American Dental Association featured a cover story that showcased the role of prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics in facial transplantation. ACP member Dr. Lawrence E. Brecht was one of the authors.
The article included case reports from two facial transplants in which Dr. Brecht was involved. Both cases illustrate the contributions made by prosthodontists during all phases of transplantation as well as the collaboration between prosthodontists and other members of a multidisciplinary team.
The article also suggests that prosthodontists' role may become even more prominent as this challenging procedure evolves.
