Journal of Prosthodontics Virtual Issue
The Journal of Prosthodontics' fifth annual virtual issue, "Overdentures: Current Research," is now online.
The virtual issue compiles 9 of the most significant articles about overdentures published in the Journal of Prosthodontics over the last two years.
Overdentures have been a well-understood and accepted treatment option for decades, but longstanding treatment options should be constantly evaluated in light of new treatments, advancing technology, and more-robust data. The articles included in this virtual issue reflect this attitude. A longitudinal assessment of an overdenture population analyzes 272 patients who received overdentures between 1974 and 1994. In vitro studies evaluate Locator attachments. Clinical reports advocate for using CAD/CAM technology to enhance overdenture fracture and wear resistance. Finally, an international survey of prosthodontists reflects worldwide trends and attitudes toward implant-supported mandibular overdentures.
The articles included in this virtual issue provide evidence to support clinical decisions when using overdentures and show the robust research being conducted into the advantages, disadvantages, and advances in this treatment option.
The full-text articles in this virtual issue are available to anyone through the end of the year, so please share with your colleagues, referral network, or students. Full-text Journal of Prosthodontics articles are always free to ACP members.
