Annual Session News
Letter from the Program Chair of the 51st Annual Session
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am proud to write to you as the Chair of the 51st Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists. This year we are excited to present one of the most unique and inclusive events in the history of the College.
The 2021 Annual Session will highlight the idea of coming together with the theme, Collaborations: The Key to Excellent Outcomes. During the planning of this meeting, our mission was to try and facilitate increased collaboration among prosthodontists. As the pandemic continued during our planning, it became clear that prosthodontists not only need to work better together, but also need to work collaboratively with other practitioners in the various dental specialties, with physicians, with laboratories, and with our industry partners, all to provide the best patient outcomes possible.
Our excellent program features over 30 speakers from around the world who will each focus on one of our five pillars of connection. These pillars are connections with medicine, technology, materials, dental specialties, and techniques. I am excited to see how these five pillars highlight collaboration, while also providing insightful information for you to immediately take back to your practices and institutions. This year there is also a keynote address by Daniel Burrus, a renowned New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author, who is considered one of the leading futurist speakers on global trends and disruptive innovation.
Along with the theme of collaboration, we are excited to be able to offer this virtual opportunity for the prosthodontic community to gather together – despite the ongoing pandemic. Building on the success and feedback of last year, this year we have a new virtual platform, offering even more opportunities for connection.
One key benefit of meeting virtually is the opportunity to once again experience all of the scientific sessions on-demand after the meeting’s conclusion. If you cannot attend a session live, or if you want to watch it again, all of the sessions, corporate content and, social events will be available on-demand for one year.
We invite everyone to attend this collaborative event! We feel every prosthodontist as well as any dental specialist or general dentist would greatly benefit from the nearly 23 hours of continuing education offered in this program. Every session of the meeting will provide the important educational gems that we all want to obtain from a conference.
Thank you to ACP President Dr. Mark C. Hutten for giving me the honor of chairing this year’s Annual Session.
I encourage all of you to register for the meeting today if you are not yet registered, and I look forward to seeing you all virtually Oct. 26-30!
Best,
Alvin G. Wee, DDS, MS, MPH, PhD
