May 3 is Global Osseointegration Day
The first ever Global Osseointegration Day will be taking place May 3, 2021. This date was chosen in honor of the birthday of the late Dr. Per-Ingvar Brånemark (pictured above), the pioneer of modern implant dentistry.
The American College of Prosthodontists, in collaboration with Mrs. Barbro Brånemark, and the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) are paying tribute to Dr. Per-Ingvar Brånemark for his work that revolutionized the treatment of complete and partial edentulism.
Thanks to decades of research, Dr. Brånemark introduced us to osseointegration. The world of dentistry continues to acknowledge Dr. Brånemark’s contributions through numerous honorary degrees, prizes, awards, and international honors. Recognition of the Brånemark implant methods and materials continues to be one of the most significant breakthroughs in dentistry.
There will be celebrations worldwide in honor of Dr. Brånemark and his work. Among the many global celebratory events that will take place on May 3 is a live webinar featuring speaker Dr. Tomas Albrektsson hosted by Dental Tribune International. The webinar is taking place at 2:00 p.m. EST on Monday, May 3. You can learn more and register for the event here.
The ACP would also like to thank Mrs. Brånemark for her generous donation of scientific and research materials to continue the development of The ACP P-I Brånemark Archive, which is currently in progress. The archive preserves Dr. P.I. Brånemark’s legacy and makes these rare materials available to the dental community.
Register for May 3 webinar hosted by Dental Tribune International.
