Alternate Requirements for Life Diplomate Status
At the February 2019 meeting of the ABP, the board voted to modify the requirements for applying for Life Diplomate status. The new requirements are as follows (new wording highlighted in bold italics):
Section 13.4 Life Certificate. A Diplomate with ten years of good standing and having totally retired from compensated teaching, practice, or related dental activities is eligible to apply for Life Diplomate status. A Diplomate reaching the age of 70 years or having 35 continuous years of good standing, is also eligible to apply for Life Diplomate status. Upon approval by the Board of Directors, a “Life Certificate” will be issued. Questions about “related dental activities” will be addressed by the Board of Directors.
Change in Deadline for Payment of Late Dues
At the February 2019 meeting of the ABP, the board voted to amend the deadline for payment of late dues. Effective January 1, 2020, the ABP has changed the deadline for payment of delinquent dues from June 30 up to March 31 each year. Diplomates who have not paid their 2020 dues by that date will be reviewed by the board and dropped from membership and forfeit their diplomate status. This information will also be included in the annual dues renewal notice. Note that the deadline for delinquent dues payments for 2019 remains June 30, 2019.
Respectfully submitted, David A. Felton, DDS, MS, President, ABP
