NPAW: A Chance to Engage Referring Dentists
National Prosthodontics Awareness Week is a great opportunity to connect with colleagues in other dental specialties, especially referring dentists!
During previous years, members have sent gift baskets, treats, and even ACP brochures to referring dentists as a way to show appreciation or make a new connection.
For several years, Dr. Karen McAndrews, of the Virginia Center for Prosthodontics, has taken things one step further and invited the staff of her referring dentists to her practice for a "Dental Bingo" lunch event. The game is so popular that attendees now begin calling in January to make sure they're invited. Here is a little more about her event:
"We invite the staff from our referring dentists to come for lunch and bingo. We create the bingo sheets with prosthodontic terms in each square. This way we're not just playing bingo but also talking about prosthodontics and how a prosthodontist can help them with various cases. Everyone leaves with at least one prize. So they're excited for lunch, excited for prizes, but also about learning prosthodontic terms and going back to their offices with that knowledge. And now, when they need to make a referral they think of our practice!"
