The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Keith M. Phillips with the 2021 Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the Pacific Region of the ACP. This award is recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.

“When I received a call from Dr. Mark C. Hutten stating that I was to receive the Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for my region, I was very surprised with the news. Then a bit emotional, as a solo practitioner, you feel that nobody really notices what you do for your patients on a day to basis,” said Dr. Phillips. “That makes this award very special to me knowing that others do notice the hard work put forth to help our patients with their dental issues. I am very appreciative and humbled by this recognition.”

Dr. Phillips received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, a certificate in Prosthodontics with an MSD from the University of Washington and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and is a Fellow of the ACP. After completion of his postdoctoral training Dr. Phillips became Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as well as Chief of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Dr. Phillips returned to the University of Washington to become the Director of the Graduate Program in Prosthodontics from 1996 to 2004 and was Associate Director from 2004 to 2009.

He is currently an affiliate Associate Professor at the University of Washington, the University of Southern California, and the University of Pennsylvania. He is a reviewer for numerous journals and maintains a private practice in Tacoma, WA with major areas of focus on periodontal prosthodontics, implant surgery, and implant assisted oral reconstruction.
