Retrospective Evaluation of the Status of Advanced Dental Education in Prosthodontics
Now available to ACP members, Drs. Foteini Touloumi, Judy Chia-Chun Yuan, Cortino Sukotjo, and Alvin G. Wee present the results of their study that analyzed ten years of data regarding program directors, applicants, and enrollees in Advanced Education Programs in Prosthodontics (AEPPs).
Published in the August issue of the Journal of Dental Education, the article highlights the significant increase in overall applicants to AEPPs over the ten-year period and how this could impact future distribution of prosthodontists and help ensure underserved populations receive access to care. In addition, the study notes the importance of ensuring underrepresented applicant populations are engaged and persuaded to pursue specialty training.
The data for the study was generated by the ADA Health Policy Institute and ACP Education and Research Division.
